Am I Not Human: Get Free

Over the years, the Am I Not Human campaign has sought to raise awareness of human rights abuses with a monthly commitment on the 27th to take action (usually through blogging). With the uncertainty of western freedoms and bills like NDAA and SOPA, the writing on the wall is now appearing in neon ink: We have no choice but to stand and Get Free.

Now is the time to gain independence, prepare and support like-souls in off-grid, independent living and merchantry. Information abounds. Acquire as much of it as you can. Even wikipedia can be downloaded (seriously, look up the link on their site).

I've blogged monthly even after the initial Roots Of Humanity group fell away, but I will now be raising awareness on the 27th beyond the blog. Posts may appear here from time to time to update on issues and actions that can be taken, but you can find more information at Ultraviolet Underground on a regular basis. I do not plan to blog every 27th day of each month any longer. It was hoped a good deal of progress could be made with the blogging aspect of the 'Am I Not Human' campaign, but it has been fairly slow to catch on. I thank all of you who read and participate. The goal now is to focus on potential book and zine projects that can raise awareness hopefully with more efficacy. Updates will be posted about the direction the campaign will take in terms of zines or zine columns and events or days of group action.

I hope everyone knows how serious the importance is to get mentally prepared and seek alternative news outlets. "Program" yourself rather than tune into mainstream programs. Your mind is precious. Care for it. Know who your dollars support (google the companies who make your products and see how they treat the workers and the earth - look them up in the green pages or only shop with transparent, ethical, green merchants). You have power. It's in your focus : your choice.

I'll continue to uphold a focus on human rights on the 27th every month in varying forms as an alternative to blogging (art pieces, events, etc). I hope you will too.

This one would place everyone in danger based on governmental whims: It's called S.1867, a supposed National Defense Authorization Act. It would allow military to pick up citizens at home and abroad without reason and hold them indefinitely without trial.

Am I Not Human: Don't Feed The Monsters

Whether or not the Occupy movement was initially "seeded" to create conditions that would justify the shadow government and its puppet goverment(s) to attempt martial law, it is changing the international conversation to a focus that can produce an evolution of the condition of the 99 percent from perceived powerlessness and apathy to one of solution and autonomic action. It's making it clear to people of all economic positions that feeding corporate monsters is killing the planet and its inhabitants. If we're to improve our condition, we should have indie merchants on speed dial, and establish bartering systems that can sustain us through these times of transition out of the dungeon of the grotesque-mind as we return to humanity.

In essence, we can't feed the monsters if we expect change. They'll change nothing but the positions of the actors (entertainers, politicians, and whoever else picks lint from their pockets) and props in their international puppet show, but the script will remain the same in their hands. Will it be easy to green ourselves and distance ourselves from the flashing lights and hollow-promises issued from our hypno-boxes and spin-papers? It will be psychologically difficult for some more than others, but starting even with the smallest steps creates actual change.

Here are some ways to make the transition easier:

I've been working on several splendors from the the seat of a fierce rollercoaster, but there's a flow, despite interruptions. Your patience is most appreciated while everything is prepared. There will be a delay (and potential restructuring) with the next Purple Mag issue. More intel on that as it's available. The 2nd Black Faery anthology is also still in the works (the potential cover below appeared in The Curious Bazaar section of Purple#10), but an unreal amount of obstacles have continued to cause delays (with increased intensity this year on several fronts...). I appreciate the love and well-wishes that have been extended. They mean a lot. All will balance out eventually. These are times of change affecting everyone.

Am I Not Human: Occupy Your Heart

Too corny? It shouldn't be. For this month's focus, I'm going to keep the Am I Not Human post short and centered. I'm placing the emphasis on centeredness because, that's what we're all lacking. Even as the masses wriggle, shout, and march, we need to look at what aspects of this beast of a western system that we support and how we can discontinue it.

We all have to eat, but our blood, sweat, and tears (at least for many of us) benefit a system that won't think twice about taking out a village of innocents or installing a fake dictator it controls like a puppet until it doesn't need him anymore. Until we can gather the resolve to develop real bartering systems, communities that are sustainable, and the will to fight a very evil giant with our own steel wills, our protests may well lack the center (power) they need.

What we're missing, is our rootedness. We can ask for and demand justice, but we can also build our own community with the many alternative resources available to us. So long as we provide the fuel and consume its products, this system is unlikely to truly hear anything we have to say. It ignored the masses, the pope, the previous execution staff, and the ex- fbi director of the Reagan administration to kill the obviously innocent Troy Davis (to cover up God knows what). It has entirely too much of our power and energy in its grasp.

We're focusing on this campaign this month because the ethnic group of anyone can find itself the target of a hate-focus, especially if they happen to be of lands with natural resources to be had... We are all humans upon the earth, and most of us are seeking peace.

Cooking With Stardust Soon Come

If you're a Wonderdark reader curious about the full 'Cooking With Stardust' issue from book one, you don't have much longer to wait. The issuing's been written and illustrated for a bit now (despite a few cover changes). It was meant to post after the public ARC-release of Dara&The Dream Engine (the 2nd book of Wonderdark), but a storm of delays and complications followed that only permitted the one book to reach the merry band of bookeaters awaiting it.

Please accept our humblest apologies with a recipe to tide over your greentongues:

Tof Loaf & EZ Potatoes

(ingredients are in italics)

Thaw two blocks pre-frozen tofu (you can do put them in the freezer the night before – you may also try this with equivalent non-soy bean curd), and squeeze the water out. Crumble the tofu into a mixing bowl, and mix with an equal part of highly seasoned rice flour (or preferred flowyr). Mix thoroughly with a drizzle of organic cooking oil. Form a tofloaf of the dough and place in a lightly oiled bread pan or casserole dish. Place in oven after preheating to 350. Drizzle occasionally with seasoned oil and cook for 1 hour (dependent upon your oven - If you prefer the tofloaf stuffed, make a fold of the dough and add filling before adding them to the bread pan/casserole dish.

While the Tofloaf is cooking, set a pot of water to a boil and add a few rinsed organic potatoes to it. Allow to boil for at least 45 minutes. Once removed, slice open and add pats of Earth Balance, Green Sourcream ( 1 teaspoon each apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in 1 cup unsweetened vegan crème or arrow-root thickened-mylk base) or optionally drizzle in garlic and onion oil. Sprinkle seasalt to taste.

Am I Not Human: Police Brutality and Community Outrage

What is it going to take for concrete measures against police brutality to be taken? Without staunch regulation that acts as a strong deterrent, we can expect more riots like the one that took place in the UK earlier this month to happen again. Community "powerlessness" will soon become communal fury faced with terrors issued from the hands of those who are charged to serve and protect.

Please take a moment to visit the following links and add any word you may have of movements to push for severe regulations that will discourage the abuse of power in uniform (post links in or outside of the states in the comments so everyone can hopefully find resources). At the very least, we all have the power to spread news of resources and organizations who are dedicated to eradicating police brutality.

Am I Not Human: Evidence Of Good

For this month's installment of the Am I Not Human campaign, we're taking a look at the good news we're rarely shown. Our flames need the recharge that comes with seeing the triumphs as well as the violations we need to take a stand to correct as a collective.

As difficult as it might seem to find, there are victories happening in human rights.

Evidence Of Good:

Impassioned Human Rights advocate, Ai Wei Wei, is finally free after being detained since April 3rd (with literally no word from the government about his abduction until recently - his wife and friends were also held for a time for "questioning"). Ai Wei Wei is no stranger to the stifled-voice-by-government approach issued from those disturbed by his candor. He's been detained before and beaten (to the point of hospitalization) for speaking his heart against injustices.

Despite efforts to remove demands for his freedom from websites and placing pressure on campaigners to avoid using his name directly, the international pressure grew quite substantial and weighed heavily over the heads of his captors. Ai Wei Wei is considered a hero in Human Rights. it's very good to see him released from the censorship machine.

President Juan Manuel Santos signed the Victims and Land Restoration law into on the 10th of this month, with the aim of seeing stolen land returned to internally displaced peoples in Columbia. The Law includes financial compensation (reparations), and intended protection from armed bands that have expressed opposition to the legislation.

For over 20 years, more nearly 4 million Columbians have been forced into a displaced position and abused for seeking to having their 16 million acres of land returned. Leaders have also been subject to multiple assassinations for taking a stand in favor of restitution.

While implementing the legislation will be a challenge, to say the least, its existence is a beacon of hope for a disenfranchised people.

It is likely you are already familiar with this case. And this means you may have already signed the petition more than once. You're being asked to signed it again now, alongside the many of us who believe this man is innocent and are standing to disallow him to be sacrificed and put to death without evidence or justifiable cause. There is no evidence linking this man to murder. Police have coerced witnesses in this case. These same witnesses have advised they were forced to give false testimony. Has internal affairs even bothered to investigate the officers who are dishonoring their badges this way?
Where is the justice there? How can so much energy be placed on trying to put an innocent man to death, when it is obvious there is cleanup that needs to take place in a department, where there are officers who dishonor the law they claim to serve, by coercing testimonies in their 'favor'? What are we missing here? What happened behind the scenes we're not being told about that would motivate officers to force untruths out of people and claim they are witnesses? If we don't stand against corruption in the 'justice' system, who will?

Color of Change recently advised:

"The state of Georgia is moving to put Troy Davis to death despite major doubts about his guilt. All but two of the state’s non-police witnesses from the trial have recanted their testimony — and many have sworn in affidavits that police pressured or coerced them into testifying or signing statements.

There is still serious doubt as to Troy Davis’ guilt, and by putting him to death Georgia runs the risk of killing an innocent man. Please call on the board to save Troy Davis’ life. And tell others about this -- Troy Davis needs as many of us as possible to speak up. "

The below video was filmed several years ago, and is unfortunately the same message we find we have to deliver today (he should have been freed long ago). Troy Davis is an innocent man. That matters. Free him.

Am I Not Human: Going Within

There are a number of theories why we're in the state of catastrophe we're in today, but rehashing them again, when you've all been over-exposed to images and thoughts of despair, bloodshed and deprivation, is not the most useful application of time or energy for any of us. We've learned that the enormous amount of money donated to relief efforts for Katrina victims, Survivors of the Haitian earthquake, and countless others I'm sure, have been largely pocketed by the more-prominent organizations that pledge to donate them on our behalf. It doesn't do much for our clarity as we seek direction towards the correct way to do something positive that will impact the catastrophes that have come of greedmonger-rooted abuses of peoples and resources. We have to find a new direction. My increasing belief is that the simplest way is likely the most effective way.
While I remain a staunch advocate that we raise our voices against tyranny, I also know the value of silence, and going within to balance our own and communal energy after we have said our peace.
With the reasons gov pulls out of its hind to go to war, the senseless catastrophe in Japan which added a man-made nuclear nightmare to an already impossible effort to grapple with an earthquake of mammoth proportions, we need to take control of our minds back. We need to meditate, and become acquainted with the very real, scientifically measured ability that masses of people have to reduce war and crime, when focus is projected to distressed areas. We need to begin visualizing justice, and balance. The images of horror that flood our media create a view of the world that claims many villians, when in reality most are media-created, or focused on to the disclusion of outnumbering positive forces. Our minds are used against us, and filled to brim with thoughts of despair, powerlessness and crippling fear. We can stop this. We can turn off our televisions. We can stop funding mass media outlets that report biased news they are paid to report to bury the 'full story'.
I do no believe the government wants us to believe peace is even possible, regardless of the doublespeak that is often used to confuse us into believing that they're actually seeking it on our behalf. They cannot give us something we possess within. Peace cannot be sold to us. Peace cannot be murdered out of or into us. Peace is ours, if we seek it.
And this is exactly why we need to breathe life into it with intention.
It was here before on a mass level. It will come back again.
We're taught, influenced and set-up to act inhumane. We are not naturally like this.

I propose a weekly mass meditation on Sundays, that includes either chanting 'We are at peace. Everyone's needs are met' or something related, a visualization of a peaceful, nurturing life experience for all of the world's diverse peoples, focusing on love and bliss and projecting it to war-torn areas and areas in distress.
I'd say we should do this collectively everyday but I'm realistic that day to day work demands, make this difficult. Purple Mag hosted a monthly mass meditation but a month is a long span of time to wait to do another mass meditation, when we are in times that are in as intense need as this.

The above screenshot comes from and interview done with grassroots activist V. May. It's done in a whimsical format, but touches on the very important work, being done in 'innercities'. It seemed appropriate in the increased confusions the world is beset with to focus upon a freedom fighter who is walking the walk to make an impact plenty just talk about.

The full interview can be read in this month's Purple #10 release, but a few key words have been extended here as food for thought as we watch and learn how to take back our communities:

'I was conceived during the tumult of the 1960’s; during the summer of 1968 to be exact. I’ve always felt that I am here to complete some unfinished business.
For some reason, Robert F. Kennedy’s paraphrase of George Bernard Shaw’s famous quote resonates in my soul and reverberates through every fiber of my being, “There are those who look at things the way they are and ask, “Why?” I dream of things that never were and ask, “Why not?”
I have always been hands-on with my activism. I don’t understand complacency. If things can be made better, I don’t understand inertia. '

'My present involvement in the quest for the balancing/greening of my city came about during a trip to the public library. On my way out, I happened to peruse the free community newspapers, weeklies, and event flyers lying on the public information shelf. One of the community newspapers had a story regarding the city of Los Angeles trying to secure a zone variance that would allow a trucking school to operate at the Lopez Canyon Restoration Project site. The Lopez Canyon Restoration Project site is a former landfill that is now zoned open space and is being transitioned back to a recreation area that is to be replete with hiking and equestrian trails, a park, and scenic vistas. Los Angeles is a concrete jungle. It needs more open and green space.
With a little research, networking, and synchronicity, I was able to hook up with others that held my same concerns. The effort to quickly transition the Lopez Canyon Restoration Project site to an industrial and commercial use free open space has blossomed. By reaching out, the effort has garnered many supporters.'

'As the early feminists of the early 1970’s declared, “The personal is the political.” Whether we like it or not, politics affects our personal lives. We have to be ever vigilant if we want to maintain personal freedom.
The section of the San Fernando Valley where I grew up and now reside is the step child of the Valley. This area is oversaturated with Section 8/low income housing, industrial zoned areas, and facilities that other areas do not want. The former landfill was the anchor for this designation. Once it was established, the area was targeted as the spot to put the “undesirables”.
There are some who want things to stay [as] they are. However, there are more that want to see things change for the better.

Now that the landfill is transitioning, some of us are hoping to bring about sustainable and attractive redevelopment without displacement. By decreasing the number of liquor stores, bringing in needed financial, retail, and commercial ventures, increasing community policing, providing positive alternatives for youth, and improving the overall appearance of the community; we hope to create community that attracts civic minded residents while retaining established ones. This community has been hit by the foreclosure crisis and new homes are being built. Consequently, there are homes available for purchase. We hope to create a community that home purchases will love to live in and contribute to.'

Many glitches and delayers later Purple #10 (technically the 12th issuing with the two .5 issues) has manifested. This issue was frustratingly difficult to birth, but the February discoveries clue into perhaps kismet's hand being at work? Some of the extra light wasn't found until this month, and couldn't have been a part of the issuing if released earlier. There's also Murphy's Law. It had its fun, we assure you...

URB ALTian splendor: Audiovisuals from Dearling Physique and a new tour for Lady Adu

Seeing Dearling Physique live at UA fest 2010 last year was a transcendental experience. The bold, engaging intensity of frontman Domino, strikes as an exercise in being, like one exerting and flirting with the powers of 'I AM'. As an outfit, the group is a perfect fit. Guitarist Matt Vannelli, drummer Dave Sellner, and keyboardist Sean O’Hea, come together in a complex electrical symmetry, that features as both each and all. What could be called experimentation seems instead to be the play of genius, or the telepathic journey of a fourman astralcraft bound for fire and light and watchful waters, distilled into an etheric frequency, so we may watch vicariously, and grow space wings enabling us to join.

There was a glimmer of excitement with the media's mention of the EPA looking into the toxicity of fluoridation in water, in January, which has either been catalytic, or acted as a harbinger of things to come, as now seen in the collection of comments for presentation to the Department of Health and Human services on 2/14.
Alot of times intel comes in late, which requires us to be ready to take action, and add our voices to petitions as the action items come. Windows of opportunity in any arena have time limits. The more prepared we are, the more we progress. The time for moaning and groaning has passed. It's definitely time to engage, and learn through action how things work. None of us know everything about every nook and cranny in the machine, but as you give your attention to a frequency/area-of-experience/matter-at-hand, you'll attract more intel/energy from that frequency. That's a universal law holding true in all arenas.
No need to be intimidated. Powermongers have used intimidation, and making things seem 'over our heads' to sneak poisonous agendas in that have literally killed people en masse, through food, direct assault, so-called medicines, suggested social disorders that are acted out in the populace by those who accept programming as reality, and so forth.

So a mother decides she wants her children to have a better education than her district would provide her girls with, and fibs about her residence so they can attend a better school. This school is in a white school district. This mother and her girls are black. Her proposed punishment? A felony conviction.
This mother is also just credits away from her teaching credentials; a job she can't hold with a felony conviction. Guess this Ohio town had to show the Black gal where her 'place' is, in a land stolen primarily for 'white use', and begrudgingly 'shared' with freed-abductee and immigrated people of color.

'Williams-Bolar is black and poor. Plenty of observers in Akron, in Ohio and around the nation have called this further fallout of a history of racism in general and racial apartheid in American schools.

During what tends to be a holiday season for several cultures, a bill, attempting for the 3rd time, to make it impossible for all but those with corporate-coin level wealth to grow food, was passed on December 21st.

It would further endeavor to target organic food producers, who this bill has aimed to force to treat harvests with trace amounts of poisonous agents, under the guise of 'Food Safety'. Such a thing would render our food, inorganic. There would no longer be such a thing as truly organic food available for purchase in the US.

I wrote a bit about this last week on UU, but a drive for signatures is imperative, and requires all who are standing up to continue spreading the word and urging action. This is not the kind of bill people will want to find they regret signing 'later', when the horror can be avoided by acting now.

It's one of the most serious issues, second only to air that affects our ability to live, and raise families.
We need food to feed our children. Corporations cannot be trusted to control that. Ever. Currently HealthfreedomUSA is contuining to champion this movement, after some success somewhat softening the bill from its previous nightmarish position, but we cannot relax yet. There are hidden clauses in it that make this bill a real danger, which could have us literally starving for nothing more than the reason of corporate greed.
We're writing to Michelle Obama, a staunch advocate of organic gardening, and healthy eating for children, to relay the importance of a veto of this bill.

An elder asked me recently (mildly paraphrased): 'Don't folks think it's strange that laws were put in place to stop US farmers from growing food awhile back, so our food is imported and more expensive? The food is imported from countries the US has no legal power over. They use pesticides not even lawful in the US, now. Does that sound like food safety? And now a bill's trying to make it so everyday people can't plant seeds if they choose to grow their own food? What do folks think of that?'

What do you think of that?
Are we willing to take the chance that one day, with such a bill, the government could weave a tale about trouble with imports, and without rights to grow our own food, force us to slowly starve, and suffer in the inevitable chaos? I'm not. I'm pushing back. Are you?

I'm posting this in hopes that a mass of concerned people who are aware/aspiring to become aware, and are strong in their convictions that we must maintain the right to grow our own food in this country will do the same, and persist to stand for our rights to grow our own foods and medicines organically.
The bill HR 2751,deceptively termed the 'Food Safety' Bill, passed on December 21 under alot of our noses, but it can be vetoed, and to this end we must act immediately.
This issue is so very serious, that we must act now, and believe in the power of our voices. In a country without the freedom to grow our own food, a people are powerless to be, let alone ,raise and care for children, as such conditions would mean utter dependency to corporations that would not blink while cutting off food supplies/medicines.
This is the most important letter you may ever have to send regarding your freedom.

As a citizen who has recognized your dedication to setting a healthy organic example, I am writing to ask for your intervention with the recent unfortunate passing of the Food Safety Bill, which in truth does everything but ensure food safety.
I am a concerned aspiring organic gardener, and consumer of organic products. True food safety and my protected access to local and natural food production and distribution, is vitally important.

I am very concerned that the FDA will implement the 2010 Food Safety Modernization Act in ways that will harm these important interests.

Therefore, first,please let your husband know that I urge a veto of the bill, HR.2751 -- the new Congress ought to re-consider its controversial provisions, such as section 104 that may allow secret regulations, in violation of the pledge of transparency.

Further concerns include the convoluted procedure for local food production exemptions and the "road map" the new law provides for rapid "HARMonization" of our food freedoms with international Codex Alimentarius restrictions.

Second, if this bill cannot be vetoed, I urge the White House to be very closely involved in the writing of the regulations under the new law, to ensure the protection of food freedom interests and to make sure all interest groups are heard and considered by the regulators.

Food Freedom is an important issue to me and I will pay attention to what the White House and FDA do with the new power granted by Congress.

Haven't checked with the almost-grown yet, but my first lightseeds for Sleeping Green begin with reflection on the impact of creativity on government-structures that seek ultimate control over our thought processes.
Children who can think outside the box, bring solutions to the world but the world, foolishly, has historically done little to support them and a disturbing much to suppress them.
It's difficult to come by federally-funded schools that truly celebrate creativity in our children, beyond structured art classes (for those schools fortunate enough to still have the funding for them), and it's evident that the media youth have been exposed to in the past decade, isn't giving much if anything of worth to draw from.
Perhaps elder creatives both self-taught and formally trained would be interested in brainstorming on how to provide tools, space, and quality content to youth--especially in under-privileged areas--that is easily accessible? Can we bring apprenticeships back, and make them more viable than gargantuan-loan requiring university degrees? Even color-in/activity sheets created by more inspired minds, could introduce youth to visual concepts that would open doors. Maybe packets or download zips and refurbished tablets provided specifically with creative-process purpose to community-centers/libraries/lounges could be pulled off? Gimp.org still offers free editing software of the worthy variation which can ran on Ubuntu OS and Windblows (I'm still sore about their spy-supporting open-kernel of old). Audacity can be used to achieve harmonic etherings, and there's more out there. It would be amazing to teach science through the arts. It would certainly enrich academia to consider more creative ways to impart information, and encourage skillbuilding. How can we each do more to open minds, and expose them to the serious wealth out there that would actually make the world better, rather than program it in the long-standing tradition of destroying itself?

Just seeds for now... We'll see what blooms.

Spending 15 years under house arrest, Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel prize winner and political activist--whose goal has long been revolution without violence--was finally released on November 13th 2007, with a fixed eye upon her goal for Burmese democracy. A realist, rather than the optimist some would paint her, Aung is continuing with her goals for the party, with the perseverance necessary to achieve a goal that would change life entirely in Burma, where life under military control has kept the people under an inconceivably oppressive rule.

Impact Mag had this to say of Aung San Suu Kyi's struggle:

"The Amnesty International ‘Burma Campaign’ which had been campaigning for Aung San Suu’s release knows that even now the fight is not over. 2,002 political prisoners still remain in Burma, all under house arrest or detained in prison facilities. Each prisoner is further evidence of repressive rule by the Burmese junta, a regime accused by Harvard Law School of war crimes and crimes against humanity, a regime without freedom of speech and without freedom of political representation. The figurehead of resistance in Burma may be free at last, but many other dissidents will continue to be silenced as long as this regime is in power."

Aung's release is wonderful news, but it is news that should continue to fuel grassroots awareness-raising and action.

The UN Human Rights Council affirmed the human right to water and sanitation as legally binding at September's end, considering it a right to an adequate standard of living. It's a victory that lays the groundwork for a world where basic resources, which are already free, are available to everyone, as nature intended, hopefully in organic and non-fluoridated forms.

Your path should reflect the quality of your heart

The great forces still with us, and those who've transitioned have all mastered a simple, albeit challenging wisdom in at least one arena of their lives. They've managed to rise to the vibratory level matching their heart's signature.

This does not suggest that fame or riches are any achievement of true value in relation to mastering the wisdom of realigning with that which is harmonious to one's essence. Fame and riches can be distracting illusions. Plenty of famous people play 'the game', and go against their hearts for the illusory, fickle-hearted attentions that may or may not be won that way, losing touch with the purpose of their light in the process.
Those who truly find alignment with their inner-mythsphere find it shines outward leaving a fairly effortless impression of enchantment/upliftment in the auras of all that it touches.

All this is said to say, remember to remain connected to your light. Embrace the positive forces in your life, and part as peacefully as possible from the forces in your life that drain you, leaving you uncomfortable or confused for their own gain, whether conscious or unconscious. Those folks don't get it and are still finding themselves. They have yet to see how beautiful they have the potential to be, and have likely given way to a cycle of resentment and self-indulgent spite that forgets its first enemy, and moves on to mark innocents and friends. They'll wake up eventually, try to avoid thinking to ill of them. It's not personal.

Abbey Lincoln Transitions at 80 years young

I found Abbey Lincoln's 'A Turtle's Dream' years ago during a periodic library foraging, in a wooden shelf filled with the compact discs of artists who would soon expand my horizons far beyond the 'mainstream programming' I'd grown accustomed to.
Her disc was a musical masterpiece, transporting me to a world of aquatic ethera, heavy with mood, and pregnant with lyrics both buoyant with whimsy and steady in wisdom. The disc *stayed* on repeat. I was deeply won.

Later I would acquire more of her sonic gems, which were always gates into worlds of depth, and meaning. I would marvel at her mastery of storytelling. She was a unique mythspheric force, and one who will be remembered fondly not only for her magiking of the ether, but also for her burning of the glamour gown in favor of spiriting the civil rights movement alongside Max Roach.

Hearing of her death upon waking today, took my breath for a moment. Her passing is a loss. I have to remind myself that she will live on in cherished works.

She will be deeply missed.

The Justice Dept's launched a probe into Aiyana's murder.

I have to focus positive thought on this development. The spirit of this 7 year old child deserves justice for the loss of her life, by the hand of a sworn protector. I won't even let the idea of a lesser possibility enter my mind. We need to start *expecting* justice, in every situation that's experienced its absence. Our perceptions have real power. It's long been time for us to be sure we don't fuel it with continued expectation of powerlessness.

Let's keep an eye on this case, and offer signatures where they're needed for petitions we agree with that aid the carraige of justice, and utilize our voices in solidarity. The lives of our children are precious. This cannot happen again.

Am I Not Human: 'Just-us' and The blood of innocents

I needed time to allow my feelings to process into something coherent, and productive, hearing the 'verdict' extended to Oscar Grant's murderer, on what I percieve to be a stingingly silver platter.
Everything stopped in the air around me when I learned that Meserhle was slapped on the hand for taking the life of an innocent, despite video proof graphically presenting the cold reality of his actions. How does a copnot know', he pulled a gun instead of a taser, which either way, was completely unwarranted? I know a large portion of the water supply is fluoridated, drugging a hefty amount of us with unregulated levels of this FDA-classified poison, but how stupid do 'they' think we are? Or rather, how docile, and cowed are they counting on us to be?

The state comments of homeland-security allied (homeland-security?!) 'preparedness' against expressions of outrage, bordered on hinted-willingness to lynch the attenders of the peaceful protest of the lawless verdict, were the state given the hair of a chance. And even fully knowing that this country is built of the blood and anguish of innocents in a hall of smoke and mirrors, something went quiet within me. It was too soon after the murder-by-cop of a 7 yr old child while she slept. I couldn't process it. I spoke a bit of my peace in the dimensions of 140, but I couldn't for long, and dsisconnected to stare at the ceiling, and let my psyche protect me from what , at that moment, was impossible to stomach.

The reality, that even in the face of indisputable evidence for anyone with functional grey matter, the 'justice' system didn't care enough to punish a dishonorable, not to mention murderous officer, burned cold. Something in me seized and I was concerned at how sober my reaction was from what would normally be flames erupting.
It opened my throat for more swallowed tears, but this time, I couldn't 'react'. I couldn't say more of the same.
On the heels of the police murder of a 7 year old in our commmunity, while she slept, with all indications that a child was in the home the police shot into, unequivocally discernable as there were visible toys on the lawn, and verbal warnings of the fact, I became still.
I had to go around the place within me where words are a sanctuary, and wait outside.
I'm not accustomed to it.
I would usually rebel at walking around with a knot anger deprived of progressive action, even if that action was only raising awareness, but doing 'the usual' has only delivered the usual result. and I fear that more of the same *will* escalate into the full-on extermination of my people, given the chance.
And I wonder, in full sincerity, how anyone claiming to be human, and even further a protector of humanity can take the lives of innocents, fully knowing it is against the code they swore to uphold. Perhaps they simply do not see people of color, or even, as we've seen from quite a few taser murders, impoverished peoples of Euro descent, as people. It could very simply be the 'better-than' poison at work, that has dehumanized the world to such a hollow state of denial, suggesting the solution is rooted in celebrating commonality, and breaking down the walls of 'separate and divide',to at the very least, have honest discussion about solutions. It's an incredibly complex exercise for peoples of color still recovering from the force stripping of identity by inarguably inhuman methods, who are still seeking ways to celebrate root-identity and somehow reconcile it with integrated, and it can be asserted, compromised identity.
It seems a certainty to me that this conflict has to be resolved once and for all, as this liminal station serves only our own deaths, rather than the rebirths we've sought on a communal level for too long.
The glittering distractions of modern day buffonery will dazzle some, but the realities of our true predicament are glaring, and cannot continue to go unanswered, or worse, answered by the seeming 3 out of 100 of us willing to sign a petition, march for a cause, attend city hall meetings, create communiversities, and the like.
Organizations like @TheImpactPanel are an immensely hopeful sign, but it will take participation for these seeds of healing, and affirmed whole-identity to successfully take root.
I choose to continue to believe in our collective spirit, and even have hope for those who pretend none of this is happening, because truly, nothing happens without a reason. There is always a lesson. That wisdom goes without question. The true matter at hand, is 'What have we learned, and *when* do we apply it?'.
In a society that serves justice on a whim or by forced hand, I wonder if its true that justice can never be, on stolen land, which leads me to ask:

Comcast Rep: ( insta-frozen tone, coupled with an odd and certainly unwarranted animosity-vibe that would linger for the duration of the call) Let me, uh, place you on hold.

It's bad enough Comcast service has devolved whilst they maintain the nerve to overcharge the hell out of customers for web access. At least one of their reps also direly needs to learn 'boundaries', and maybe broaden her horizons beyond the Americanized 'Doesn/'t everyone?' blinders far too many don, at present. Her attitude towards my preferences had nothing to do with the matter at hand, which is the amazingly poor level of service I'm *done* paying for.

Further baffling to me was, judging by the accent, this was a woman of color. Uh... where's the animosity coming from towards folks who don't celebrate colonization-based independence that has largely been a mockery to 'other' cultures?

The systematic dehumanization the world over has targeted its efforts heavily on females, including child females, who have been subjected to rape, forced witness of the murders of their loved ones, and forced service in para-military operations, often funded by Western interests who benefit from the creation of in-fighting in lands with resources desired. Liberia being just one of them.

I offer the following video in the spirit of humanity, as well in caution. Without unity, and the building of better systems for 'the common people', this could take place anywhere in the world. Our 'leaders' have proven repeatedly that there is no true care in Western governments for its people, the natural world, or anything outside of profit and their profit-sharing corporate friends. It is beyond time to wake up as global people, and especially those amongst us with means to make a differnce and raise awareness. We can not turn away from what is happening to our children, our sisters, or our brothers the world over in redeveloping countries, anymore than we can ignore what is happening on the soil we currently reside on. We *are* one, regardless of the illusions that would suggest we're somehow 'safe'.

The destruction of senseless wars has struck peoples in the redeveloping world, in the middle of the night oftentimes, when the people are most vulnerable, without warning, leaving children parentless, and without protection or resources; reducing them to prey for soulless predators who would make soldiers of them.

#Dreamvision 621- In retrospect

This dreamvision event's led me to deeper consideration of evolution, communal and unconsciously perhaps; personal. I began to think of victim/need complexes and the tendency of the abused or oppressed to unconsciously seek or allow others of predatory dispositions to siphon their energy.

Breaking the patterns that cause our denial of liberation and full-being are, I think, a huge piece of the WorldPeace equation. Self loathe produces two kinds of mutations: Victim and Abuser, or vice-versa. Both undo self and other.
Our dreamvision should always include willingness to experience the good at the root of our experiences.

For the 621-dreamvision I focused my intentional dreaming on a world full of evolved glowing crowns successfully calling upon their corruption-vanquishing innerspatial might.

Remembering we're works in progress relaxes the 'perfectionist' perspective that fuels the illusion of defeat.

'No stranger to the New York underground scene, No Surrender is gearing up to release their intricate sophomore effort Medicine Babies (ZerOKilled Music, Fall 2010). Blending hip-hop, electro, soul, synth-pop, and indie-rock, No Surrender’s spanning sound is genre-bending. What inspired you to write the Yum Facilitation guide? Has it been a longstanding project during your years on this path, or did you see the necessity that vegans have an alternative to the often soy over-celebrative focus in current vegan-ry?

The guide was constructed to assist those who desire to incorporate more (soy-free) plant-based foods into their eating routines. It was also designed to illustrate that plant-based eating is a practical possibility for those who believe that eating in this way is tasteless, expensive and boring. I wish that this guide existed years ago when I initially considered eating in this way. I used to go to the local Asian markets and buy tofu by the case! lol. So, this guide is also for those who realize that they're consuming excessive amounts of soy via their faux foods, but don't know what else to do based upon their lack of awareness or creative inclinations.

I am pleased to see more folks who are genuinely interested in enjoying this way of healing/living/being and having the opportunity to do so. Seeing more health conscious folks invest in their well-being and transforming their personal worlds is a wonderful experience to witness.

Improvements? I would say an improvement in attitude or mindset amongst some vegans would be great. There is a certain way of being that some exhibit that has a tendency to deter those are interested in living on the plant-based side of life.

I definitely think non-vegans are considering the connections between their fork and their world. The significant changes in the way the earth shows itself currently, along with the mainstream mouthpieces that promote veglife have helped in making those connections.

What are some resources, in addition to the thorough approach extended in your Yum Facilitation guide, that you would advise new vegans to seek on their journey back to the plant-eating wisdom our ancestors celebrated?

On 6/21 Sisters @VMay, @YearOfEmpress @PurpleZoe are participating in group Dreamvision. Officially, the date is WorldPeace and Prayer day. Sister @VMay suggested the date, and also provided some gems for folks (see the links below) not familiar with conscious meditation aimed towards a higher purpose.

If you're joining us, drop a note in the comments or @ us and I'll add your name to the list. The hope is to come together as a group of non-anonymous committed dreamvision-ers who will use our glowing domes regularly on some togetherness towards higher purpose. I've participated in anonymous/semi-anonymous Mass Meditations in the past, but without a commitment, not much movement took place. As a committed group of sister-brother lightbeamers, there's sincere belief we can rethink this world into a higher state.
Negative thinking has gotten us here. Affirmative thinking towards the positive will get us out. Keep your eyes open for updates. We're considering holding a kind of Mass IM that day as well, or a Mass text-in (via twitter most likely until a better company for nanoblogging arises) so participators can share random observations, results, and the like.

Glancing at the anti-matter nontime piece, the Maestro of extralinear symphonies presses forward and backward, and sideward; a flask of pineapple tea at the ready, tin of cinnamons in surplus, a headstrong 7-string that goes by the name of Brandy slung over his shoulder.
His O.rbital D.issonance E.nhancement lens is hidden cleverly, somewhere in plain sight we're sure.

Ancestral beams flicker in his aura, I think. ...maybe I've got something in my eye again. Nothing makes sense here. I followed the riddle pieces. But, I'm... wait, was I supposed to climb the cloud steps to the left or...

No matter. Non-time is antimatter (#Muthawit-ticism).
Not something to forget in this world.

Yes, the Maestro... I was saying, or I meant to say: exploring x and y sacralities, commanding his exploring, plucking the flowering roots in many faceted mood halls of if, actual, and when (extending wisefruit-brews of ether), all in question/answer of awakened grey matter, Muthawit mixes passion, lament, and retrospection in his timetravel (even going as far as returning to the tree of life).

'Time means nothing. Time means everything.'

'Love in retrospect is love too late,' he shares, somewhat gently, somewhat not.

Are we ready?

I didn't forget you left-brain dominant members of the readership. The best I can do for you, is describe the experience as sequentially as possible in such extra-chronautic space.

The disk? I put it in the Spinner, but I had to look away. The effect of O.D.E can be alot on the eyes.

I sit. I listen. The room moves. I tighten the skycycle buckle.

The etherscursion commences with a duet of sorts: 'Men&Women', perhaps a memory, translated observation from the Maestro's travels, or an anticipated meeting of amoured domes depth-roaming in cerebralicious intimacy, issued through the O.D.E lense.
It rises from impassioned flames now, stepping through involuntary transmutation perhaps, for the wings of the second track 'Waiting' have grown anticipatory: making an anthem for the boys in the train stations, audition halls, and lovers be they anima or animus glaring at silent phones.
It preludes, perhaps track 3's cry 'Give it to me', in which that same audition hall or awaiting of heart sentiment takes on the punctuation of a demand.

'Give it to me ...the last time I ask for it. ...The next time I take it,' saith the disgruntled war cry of the inheritor of deprived reparations, who would have the record set straight about the skill-roots of falsely proclaimed Kings, who shined with stolen crowns?

...or Observations of the jilted lover, key in hand, in buffalo stance by a vehicle in her non-requiter's parking lot.

No?

Maybe the underground genius then, promising the growth of noncomformist consciousness into giant?

Perhaps all of these, are at its root.

I relax into the ethers. ...take a breath of the silvery waves rising up. There's always a calm in the middle of a storm on terra or innerverse, and in this ethering-series of cryptic vignettes 'Wind' is that eye, writing the words into the moistened Earth: 'Is this love, I will never know...'

Bittersweet, discontent, writhing, becoming.
It's frustrated melancholy, strangely soothing, recognizably tragic, and celebratory, enough to bypass sorrow, and inspire... reignition.

The sonic frenzy of 'Wasted' now, raises the winds, infusing electricity into ether; the first authorized leak from the trove of Men&Women or La Revenge De Uncle Baldy (coming to a timestation near you) reapproaches the storm in a feverish symphony of drumstick gloried, trumpet-heralded, whirl of guitar-moaning psychedelia, like the sung 'dancing-on-the-work-table' lament in a trifle factory that can't oppress the soul another day with its pregnant-with-distraction conveyor belts of stolen treasures manufactured by tired hands. Like one writhing in the vat of futility rippling-full with burning nectar from forced fruits plucked off deserted fields.
Perhaps one tired puzzle assembler turned to the other (or a partner-of-name passing or fixed), transfiguring the angst into the picking of fruits hidden in grey matter, on the waves of a subtly ferocious post flame guitar-strum ember flickering: 'Are you Satisfied?', where rhythms (v.) a laid-back and equally hard-hitting thump in the Maestro's paradoxical tradition, naturally, of bass-and-drum heartbeats sonically blooming.

'PMS Junkie' now ascends from guitar strum to big band curtain drops and scattered aquatic wahs whirling 'round sax-bloom rifts, that rise with the vocals like a consciousness that's reclaimed its power of self, or passion its unsure of, asking 'How are we feeling?' with at sometime maniacal curiosity, at others Mutha gentle.
It delivers to us a riddled bloom at its end, with petals, may petals of even more shapes and forms; 'Martha Squatter', a supreme frenzy of drum and bass fit to soundtrack a hunt, leading me to question again, is this part of a lovestory, or a series of them?
A love that is also a war with a lover consulted repeatedly on how they are feeling, because the partner-in-amour essentially reduces the heart of the other to a temporary space in which to pile cryptic treasures?
Is my overthink acting up again? In this instance, only the Maestro, would know.
Perhaps such riddles will not decode.

Perhaps Martha the Squatter was simply a squatter he met traveling the good red road, and 'Tree of Life' isn't a reissuing of X&Y riddling, but an o.d.e to the harmony of form and flow, swirling in water-ripple wahs and Island bass sway-conjure, inspired by a fresh apple in a grove somewhere he stopped to eat before moving on.
Perhaps Men& Women is simply code for: life.

In this vein of sentiment, the timetrodder's code would naturally follow: 'Who needs time?', in its almost eerie, guitar string alt-grit, touching on funereal rhythms, delivering old form to its recycling ground, where its once-spirit can be wept for in nostalgia and congratulations of higher destination.

I tap a broken clock in salute.

It preludes the track that perhaps leads it all to Higher Power, seemingly referred to here at the etheric journey's end as a 'Two-fisted God' following the heartchamber-stir 'When it's time' in its soulful, majestically gentle, sol-soothing monologue, or perhaps, prayer (issued in that period of assessing, reflecting on the steps pressed into the Earth that have led one to the present point, where its time to look to God, and whisper 'Two Fisted God I want some more.'

Men&Women is a puzzle, a looking glass into the rotation of psycogs in a genius machina, a fiery parched-heart hydrating etherlixir, fresh-squeezed, from the tree of an everything and nothing life. Because Men and Women are vessels. Men and women need Men&Women.

Because Men and Women are lost and sometimes found, and lost again, and...

Consider this not The End but pause to savor.

Greentongues for Vegan Cheez @ Trader Joe's

I mentioned in the Nanoverse that I spoke with a representative at Trader Joe's who said I'd need 1000 signatures worldwide before they stocked Vegan Cheez like FYH Monterey Jack or Daiya on their shelves.
I asked him if a letter drive would express our desire for accessible Vegan Cheez well enough, and he said it would.

I needed to prepare the full Lunewing Antho release (see sidebar for the link) before moving forward with the request-drafts, and have drafted a template below that you can use if inclined.

Am I Not Human: Questions

I've been having discussions lately about humanity, needed anti-violence police to safeguard our communities, the practical applications that have yet to be revealed for community safety, and the needed healing return towards the peace consciousness of the ancient matrilineal cultures.

Utilizing positive-thinking/dreamvision ('I-am-human' affirming) for a loving peaceful world at least once monthly and raising awareness through the 'Am I Not Human' campaign are two efforts, but solid brainstorming is needed on how we can assure community safety and stop the terrorizing on our streets by the police in the force who desecrate their oath to serve and protect (would be very helpful I imagine, if officers who do uphold their oath would speak out against police brutality as well, just as I hope any group placed in a position of power privileged by Western society would speak out against those in their group abusing power, to take down the us/them barriers something serious) and those without power, trying to create power through non-privileged criminality aided no doubt by poverty and stereotype.

War makes more war, and pacification encourages arrogance in the pacified. We know we can't continue with those approaches and see anymore change for the better in the world than they've already failed to influence. If we call for cameras everywhere, we aid big brother's orwellian dream (though I still believe officers should wear cameras that are accessible by community watch and grassroots orgs as a safeguard against police brutality- a suggestion made in the Afrospear sometime ago).
There are always solutions, if there are problems. But it will take dialogue, and interest in finding those solutions for real, coupled with the hardwork of putting them into action. It starts with questions. If we're serious, we'll find the answers.

Golden Maat and the facilitator I spoke with where I live raise points about humanity.
Golden Maat reminded us in her timeline in recent weeks that we've largely forgotten humanity. The facilitator reminded me police are being trained to regard us as non-human.
In turn the actions of their renegades who end up playing the part of the beast, as they approach our community as if it were full of beasts, has us regarding the police as inhuman. It doesn't work, and is imploding on itself.

We've reached a critical place with the recent slaying by police of 7 year old #Aiyana Jones, in her sleep.

SOMETHING has to give.

I applaud Representative John Conyers for his efforts to launch investigation into this murderous style of policing. I applaud those running this petition demanding release of the tape that will disprove the police-coverup of #Aiyana Jones' slaying. If you haven't signed already please stand for humanity by standing for justice and sign.

On behalf of the innocents being slaughtered by those completely misinterpreting the right use of power. I ask:

The release of this video will prevent the police cover-up in process that has attempted to blame the grandmother who was trying to cover her burning granddaughter, for the shot that killed her that came from outside of the child's home (on the porch) and struck her in her sleep.
Representative Conyers is calling for an investigation into Aiyana's murder by police and the problem with the policing in our communities. This action gives some hope that justice will be served for her, and our communities in general, if the people demand it, and the government answers the demand.
We can't expect Representative Conyers to do this all by himself however. These problems call for all of us to raise our voices, sign petitions and actively spread the world. If you want to be safe (regardless of culture, this kind of police behavior will spill into other communities if its allowed to flourish in underrepresented communities), you have no right to sit down. We all need to give this our attention, and stand for justice. Please sign the petition, and stand for humanity.

What the world needs now...

Alot of us are finding ourselves at a crossroads, trying to find a way to more closely harmonize the masculine and feminine that have become far too distant from one another (mostly through the beating down of the feminine). We're attempting to make sense of the state of the world, ensure the safety of our communities, knowing well the critical importance that our collective evolution into a higher expression of humanity be focused on with seriousness before world communities decay further, and hoping to find our voices louder than the celebration of animalist media that would have us devolve to the state of thoughtless things run only by the fight or flight mechanism.

None of us have all of the answers. Answers are found by seeking. A wise person doesn't stop learning. And we don't learn without a desire to embrace and stand for life. We cannot stand for life, without keeping love at the forefront of our hearts and minds. Some folks mistake the adrenalin of violence/violence media with vibrance, but it's based on stolen vitality. It's temporal, and hunger-generating. True vibrance comes from love. I'm not talking about romantic love, or pithy notions of it, but actual love, from which courage, generosity and in reality, humanity, are born. Love doesn't run from protecting the community. Love doesn't run from setting proper examples from our children. It remembers their developing minds and what we allow them to be exposed to. The media has a hand in conditioning us to think of love a certain way, our traditions/family rituals/beliefs if we're not careful do the rest of the work. We need to actively to better.
The freedoms we've enjoyed are born of the freedom-fighters, the monks meditating in the mountains, and the like, past and present, who've dedicated their lives to uplifting humanity, inspired by their understanding of love.

I've kicked it with a few folks in one of the nanoverse's more currently popular havens about this (where we certainly need a day of tweeting sweet-somethings to folks for a higher-inspired trending focus that can actually uplift us as a species). Thoughts of utilizing our dreamvision as a group of folks who sign on to envision a loving, peaceful world are budding into something that are likely to make a profound change. The ancient truths 'The Secret' focuses on are real-deal wisdoms. Perspective is everything. Establishing Peace keepers in our neighborhoods, and in sabotaged areas of the 'third world'/redeveloping world are a piece of the puzzle, but the problem at the root of it all is distrust, first of self, and then of other individuals/gender/group/etc (especially in cases where this knowledge was used to trick some of us into turning on ourselves...). Hatred never begins with the other. We turn on ourselves first, often at levels we can't detect well enough to identify. It's beyond time we learn to love ourselves, so we can learn to love one another properly, and function again as a cohesive whole as we've seen in the way of ancient communities who were far more wise than we. Knowing love, we can keep those who refuse to from our communities.

One dreamvision-er has signed on to a monthly effort, thus far. If you're interested and feel you can be seriously committed, drop a note in the comments, or send a shout through the nanoverse. We'll be keeping track of sessions, and possibly group IM'ing to share thoughts, and possible directions dreamvision can take for the collective good (we can also focus it for our personal aspirations of course, but without a collective, there really won't be a personal realm... priority has to be given to the whole foremost).

Something has to give.
At the very root of give is love. We have to get our minds in the habit of seeing this world through a lens of love (not a talky-do nothing lense), that dedicates time to focus positivity, so that in addition to raising awareness about injustice (which is vital to our collective as a species), we are also answering the negativity that's been bred in the world, by those who seek to profit from it, with a much higher energy from a much higher form of beingness.
Thoughts crystallize and become matter. Let's create an abundance of especially beautiful ones to counter the machine's effort to ingrain negativity into way of being.

note: Unlike meditation efforts in the past, this one is a sign-on effort. Everyone involved commits to it, and we discuss our experiences with it, and different methods for increasing flow, and doing more to add positively to our communities.

Innocence targeted by cowards creeping in the night.

There seems to be a trend that must be halted before it grows, of police officers killing people in their beds, and snatching them out of their sleep and lining them up on football fields.
7 year old light, Aiyana Jones was burned and killed in her sleep with this approach to 'policing' this past Sunday May 16, and it's now coming to light that a large group of people found themselves the victims of racial targeting once again in Jena, Louisiana over the summer.
This kind of policing requires no sense of honor, interest in justice, and cannot continue without fierce opposition. The people really aren't going to sit down for this kind of treatment any longer, everyone has their breaking point, and the obvious boiling point is being noticed by those with an interest in actual justice.
It's a great relief to learn that Representative Conyers, is calling for a federal investigation in 'para-military' style policing, the kind of which took the just-budding life of a bright innocent, the members of the nation (that have learned of it with little help from the mainstream media) are still mourning openly.

Please sign the petition demanding release of evidence police have tried to keep from light, in relation to the killing of Aiyana Jones.

On child slaying and false protectors

She was a disney-princess loving 7 year old, sleeping in her home. The SWAT team who approached her house with a team of reality tv cameramen in tow, were warned repeatedly that there were children in the house, as they approached the property.
They ignored this.
They didn't announce themselves.
They threw a flash bomb through the window to stun the people inside of the house, and shot into the house through the porch.

Aiyana was burned by the flashbomb, and shot through the neck, before her grandmother made it to cover her.

Her father was made to lay in her blood, I suppose with his hands behind his back, and the police tried to blame the grandmother for trying to cover her granddaughter. They claimed it was a 'tussle with the grandmother' that made the gun go off. The grandmother was in the house when Aiyana was shot. The police were on the porch. How could there have been a 'tussle'?

The police do not want the reality tv footage released.

For justice to be served, it must be released. Your signature is vital. Please sign the petition requesting release of the footage.

Spread the word about the slaying of Aiyana.
The Mainstream media cannot ignore a sea of outraged voices demanding protection for innocent children.

Contact the Detroit police and express your feeling on the slaying of 7 year old girl in her bed by police, and police cover-ups, if you are inclined. Some might consider it useless. It's hard to say if communicating with those willing to coverup the slaying of a 7 year old can be productive in anyway, but you can attempt to if you are moved to. Most important, is the petition right now, and spreading the word so there are so many articles, blogs, and etc that the msm has to take this as seriously as it must be taken. Sitting here trying to process the child-slaying by Police, of #Aiyana Jones, I'm filled with a strange numbness, and waves of tears. I don't know anyone in the community who isn't shaken by this soulless act. My son wept beside me a moment ago (it goes without saying that he's not usually an open weeper, but who can contain tears about this?). We prayed and wept some more. I asked for guidance. Usually I do, but this time I asked for specific guidance. I'm a spiritual woman. Not a religious one. I believe we're given a set of problems that we're meant to solve, either because we created them, or relatives created them, or they are simply there for our soul's growth.

The solution that came back to me 20 minutes after prayer, is simple: If we're going to continue to be assaulted in the black community by those that claim to be protectors of our community, it is indeed time for us to have diasporic police protecting our community from smiling-faced racists.Those who don't understand the importance of this, outside of the community, can call it racism if it makes them feel better, but we cannot have more 7 year old children burned and slain in their beds by police officers. We indeed need our own national council and armed protecting force within the nation. It seems to me we need to take care of our own 'criminal affairs' on our own reserved land in the manner that Native Americans have their own government on their reservations, if police find it acceptable to barge into a house based on a tip that a criminal is there, and burn and murder babies in that house in a slay-first-ask-questions-later fashion.
I never took the word of the government regarding what this country claims to be about, because the facts speak quite differently, but I am certain I do not believe a word government says now. No matter who's in office.
If our President, does not launch serious Police Reform after this incident, I have no further hope for him doing ANYTHING for the Black community, as a Black man, or as someone who will look after the true civil rights of the underrepresented citizens of this country.
This is as honest as it gets. I will not sugar it. You can shut me off, change the channel, etc, etc, but the same problem will loom if no strong resolve meets this obvious call for decisive action once and for all. We need a diasporic council that isn't compromised by folks who feel they have to 'be nice' in talks about justice, and folks who don't have power issues but can be fair, strong, and precise where needed safeguards are concerned. We need a community that won't put off signing a petition, marching, donating, and etc, in favor of what's on tv, or because they think it won't do anything, or because they have 'their own problems'.
There aren't any excuses. You either care or you don't. Care is an action word.
We stand, or we will surely be wiped from existence under this system. Period. Inaction with this matter will cause police brutality to devolve from here. If they can slay a 7 year old daughter in our community, in her bed, and face no repercussions, the arrogance will grow. If you feel it's better for you to do nothing, and wait for God to intervene and save you, consider that assistance comes when we're willing to take action.
Also, how is someone too scared to stand for a 7 yo child, if not for community-self, worth saving?
Answer me that.

Reviewed: Homeboy Sandman's 'The Good Sun'

Champion of the greymatter—of the highest order—dream merchant and awakener, Homeboy Sandman, has come at social uplift from several directions (from education to law), eventually finding the ideal medium, when he zoomed in on the root of communal ills (which are anti-communal from the seed) through the omni-influence of media, and the street-influencing steez-regulation seen in the Hiphop medium.

Goldenera-esque to the core, Homeboy Sandman emerged from the stardust of conscious dream-variations with a mind-healing mission, and satchel of glowing ethers. An Anti-gun, pro-herbivorous dish consuming greenman (strict Vegan), the REM-light purveyor sums up the spirit of 'The Good Sun' LP with the words:

'I'm fighting for my life and I'm fighting to the death,' finessed on the track 'The Carpenter', where the dream merchant lays the foundations for an album that proves satisfying from the drumskin pat to the wordage poised to set your dome aglow, and help society recover its lost halos.

Feeling 'stranded on a strange planet', speaking on the filthiness of land, air and the putrid condition of our water supply as 'more reasons I'm broad Vegan and organic', and the dum-di-dum thought patterns of 'people [who] don't live in the now' because 'they live in denial' on the glowing track 'Strange Planet', the sprinkler of new dreams reminds us that it requires more strength to use face muscles to muster a smile than it takes to muscle a frown (a post-note no doubt to the Mean Mugs addressed in the earlier track of the same title).

The complete absence of been-overdone-before tracks and themes, sets the refresh button with retro-thump etheric bricks for a new path in a medium that imposed insufferable brain-suck from the hiphop community for the all-corrupting American dollar after a still mourned departure from largely-conscious, community-affirming Golden-era HipHop, when corporations saw the profitable and no doubt genocidal-viability of the hiphop medium gone astray.
Music of this spirit blows the dust off of the common-man's neocortex, challenging the collective phoenix to rise from the ashes of self-destruction.

'Calm Tornado' for instance, tackles the 'be a dumber rapper' advice HipHop artists are faced with when they come with ethers of substance for the people, over the golden-era LOTU 'Funky Child' beat, complete with a spankin' new bass line of fittingly ominous tones.

Lyrical gems abound, from the mockery of industry types advising the down-play of self:

'Why you call yourself a dream merchant. You're too deep.... Rappers 'sposed to be earnin', not earnest, go ahead and sip some syrup, you're not a civil servant', to commentary of the unfortunate truths that have held our ears hostage in the hands of lesser men bowing to communal poisons:

'Deejays on the payroll. No Bueno' 'You probably groggy from fluoride in Dasani'

'Industry beef is increased to keep peeps from peeping whats in their beef and broccoli'
The final track, 'Angels with dirty faces' issues headchecks with: 'I know he in a bind but he can go buy beer and wine', answered by Homeboy Sandman directing our attention to the fallen amongst us, sleeping wherever they can find a spot—and if they're lucky that night, a patch of warmth—over a drummer-boy's beat of the epic variation, closing out an album of wake-up media for that lifepath:

'Imagine you was dying, nobody helped you, if ain't nobody listen you might talk to yourself too. Turnin' up your nose, holding your nose goin 'pieww...frontin' like its God's work what y'all go and do, when its time to show and prove y'all gone like phewwww.'

'Lightning bolts of energy, I've composed an elegy for bros that froze tonight.'

It's Hiphop after the conscious heart; the good sun outshining the burnt out stars on-front-street posing like their shedding light upon our heads.

Dream merchants are needed; dreamless sleep, in this society is death.

This past Mother's day we lost a legendary force in entertainment to heart failure, a force who broke racial barriers in the early 20th century, and whose signature smile lit up rooms everywhere, and filled hearts with her infectious warmth. Making her start in the Cotton club's chorus line in New York, and later starring in the all-black cast Stormy Weather to name just a few of her accomplishments, Lena contributed greatly to early Black Americana, and will be remembered with extreme gratitude for championing Black arts.

Warning:

The video posted below is beyond graphic. I wouldn't recommend viewing it with a child under the age of 13 in room, as even with explanation, the developing minds in that age bracket could experience some degree of trauma. This video is that graphic. It is as real as the horrors, our Eastern siblings have faced, regardless of age.
I am not however, in disagreement with the graphic nature of the imagery in this video. In this case it is actually necessary to the point. It is truly revolutionary, as opposed to the buzz generating pseudo-depth media we've been subjected to far too often.
Some have said this vid was made without a point. I vehemently disagree. This vid was made without it's point needing to be sub-titled, or announced at the end to assist us in 'getting the point'. Instead, it requires us to think.

The commentary below, is a little less fragmented and shares my impression of the vid, and how it relates to the violation of human rights the West commits in a business-as-usual fashion:

I definitely felt it was a commentary on genocide, clothed in a Euro case of racial profiling (The abuse of the Gingers might be reflecting on the abuse of the Irish, who were even labeled 'Black' at one time, believe it or not).

I think it speaks to those who may be desensitized to seeing bodies of color blown up by landmines or mulilated by schrapnel, by providing a likeness that is closer to home for the proclaimed-majority in the West.

It's a beyond clever way to speak to power, and privilege, police-state hivemind, senseless abuse of power/the frenzy-state of the power-drunk against the helpless.

I am amazed.

Folks speak of other vids recently released 'being deep', even with those that were remakes, and etc.

Nothing comes close to what M.I.A's placed before us. This is revolutionary, and I am completely unoffended by the graphic nature of the vid. The graphic nature was entirely needed to make the point.

We're so cushioned in the West, from what many of our siblings in the East suffer in horrific norms. I'm all for removing the 'softening' of media-extended realities, where reporting on human rights is concerned. It's a decade into the new millennium, and we're in at least 2 completely unnecessary wars right now. How many people even know that in this country? And of those who know, how many care?

Something has to wake the collective up..."

note: Due to 'the glitches', the BF Antho is delayed by several weeks. The local printer's scanner isn't working, and according to them, their repairperson is on their own clock (paraphrased). For serious.
...There isn't alot that can be done as the Antho is 100% funded out of pocket with a strict budget. The plan is to invest in a bitty Canon laptop/scanner, or a digital camera (to replace the one that broke in January) that can take fresh enough images to digitize the illustrations, and complete the 1st installment.

Guru, born Keith Elam, passed today at the age of 43. Truly one of the greatest rappers to ever bless the mic, of the golden-era wunderkind Gangstarr, Guru leaves an abundance of socially conscious gems for a society in desperate need of the light that was seeded for times like that which we're currently weathering.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and often revisited.

Harlem Arts School Closed?

I've been heavy-hearted since the Maestro shared the article in the NYtimes reporting a closed Harlem Arts School. It's difficult to 'just go on with the daily business' knowing the possibility of permanently closed doors looms over a school that has nurtured generations of young artists of color. The issue? Financial.
But how is that possible? Where are the grants, the donations? Will it make a difference if each of us contributes 20 dollars a month? Your brainstorming is needed, because this is a tragedy,and what's needed now is a golden idea and follow-through.
I'm down with the right strategy, because we cannot allow these things to keep happening in the African/EasternRootedDiaspora.

Am I Not Human: The Scott Sisters

How is it possible that even after a signed affidavit by their former accuser, recanting his statement, the Scott Sisters appeals were denied by the Supreme court, and all for a 'robbery' we now know they never committed that amounted to 11 dollars stolen by men allowed to get away on plea deals?

If you're not already familiar with this case which has been dragging on for well over a decade [over 11 dollars they never stole, yes}, the following vid can shed some light.

(note: This vid is a year or so old, but still, unfortunately, relevant)

Were certainly not ignorant of the reluctant-justice in our 'halls of order', having rallied for the release of the Jena 5 who were facing sentences that fell grossly beyond even an imagined scope of proportion, and Troy Davis who even after the recanting of 7 out of 9 accusers who advised officers coerced them into accusing him to begin with was denied justice repeatedly.

But what do we do about it? Outside of thinking high thoughts, and adding our voice to written demands for proportional justice, our only visible choice seems to take action to reform the system itself by utilizing our voices to gain the attention of the commander in chief.

We cannot deny that the global ecology has been affected by capitalism. Natural resources have been degraded and exploited historically as industrialization increased. Some resources like oil, coal, and natural gas take generations to renew, while fresh water is not renewable when the air and soil are polluted. Food is impacted by this demise, which directly affects our health.

Imagine living in a society where the elite are the only ones with access to food and clean water as you and the rest of the masses are reduced to eating a food source that is rationed out periodically.

The movie Soylent Green (1973) is the extreme but also not too far off the mark considering that we are suffering from periodic food recalls. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of milk has become our own personal weapons of mass destruction. Gastronomy beware!

Creating a local and sustainable food system can become a way to control and reduce pathogens while simultaneously bringing a community together, educating youth, honoring elders, and creating jobs. Without a sustainable environment we will erode with the planet.
